Pacligen
Pacligen Injection is a chemotherapy medication used to treat various types of cancer, including breast cancer, ovarian cancer, lung cancer, and Kaposi’s sarcoma. It contains Paclitaxel, a taxane-class drug that works by preventing cancer cell division and promoting cell death.
Mechanism of Action:
Paciligen (Paclitaxel) disrupts the microtubule network inside cancer cells, which is essential for cell division. By stabilizing these microtubules and preventing their breakdown, Paciligen stops cancer cells from multiplying and leads to their destruction.
Administration:
- Given as an intravenous (IV) infusion under medical supervision.
- The dosage and treatment schedule depend on the type and stage of cancer, patient’s body surface area, and overall health condition.
- Often used alone or in combination with other chemotherapy drugs for better treatment outcomes.
Possible Side Effects:
- Fatigue and weakness
- Nausea and vomiting
- Hair loss (temporary)
- Low blood cell counts (increased risk of infections, anemia, or bleeding)
- Neuropathy (tingling, numbness, or burning sensation in hands and feet)
- Joint and muscle pain
- Allergic reactions (rare but possible)
Precautions:
- Pre-medications (such as corticosteroids and antihistamines) may be required to reduce the risk of allergic reactions.
- Regular blood tests are needed to monitor blood cell levels and liver function.
- Caution is advised in patients with liver disease, heart conditions, or neuropathy.
- Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Paciligen Injection is a vital chemotherapy drug that helps slow tumor growth and improve survival outcomes when administered under the supervision of an oncologist.
